Sleep on It
Although I have written about the “Power of the Pause,” sleep on it refers to a much longer pause because some situations require it.
When you need time to absorb someone else’s ideas, sleep on it.
If you are finally talking to the person who you have been in conflict with for months, sleep on it.
When there seems to be an agreement after a long debate of issues, sleep on it.
Don’t jump into an agreement just to end it. That probably won’t work well for either side.
If the agreement is important, one more conversation is worth it.
The extra time provides the opportunity to confirm that everyone can live with the decisions.
Conflict often takes a long time to develop, likewise resolving it requires time, patience AND to SLEEP ON IT.
