Avoidance Is Not Resolution

Many use avoidance to resolve conflict. The following is a typical scenario.

Client: I thought the conflict was resolved.

Me: How was it resolved?

Client: I decided to avoid the topics.

Me: What happened?

Client: We stopped talking about the conflict.

Me: How did that work out?

Client: It didn’t and now it is impacting the entire team.

If your strategy is avoidance, it will not lead to resolution. Not talking about the conflict doesn’t make it go away.
